As many rounds and reps as possible in 14 minutes of:
7 hang power cleans
7 front squats

Stimulus and Strategy:
In today’s workout, moving this moderately heavy barbell is going to get way more metabolic than you want it to. Use a load that allows you to complete the hang power cleans in 1-3 sets and the front squats in 1-2 sets throughout the entire workout. Breaks are expected, but the goal is to keep marching forward and maintain at least 1 round every 2 minutes. If you completed this workout previously, use that score to help you navigate today’s effort.

Scaling:
Reduce the load of the barbell.

To reduce the complexity of the hang power cleans and front squats, use a pair of dumbbells to complete both movements.

In case of injury or limitation, perform Russian kettlebell swings in place of the hang power cleans. For the front squats, perform goblet squats with a single kettlebell or dumbbell. If necessary, squat to an elevated target that allows for a pain-free range of motion.

Intermediate option:
As many rounds and reps as possible in 14 minutes of:
7 hang power cleans
7 front squats

Coaching cues:
In the hang power clean, focus on getting the elbows around the barbell as quickly as possible. Think about driving your elbows through the barbell after you get as tall as possible.

Meant to try this at 115# but the few warmup reps at that weight today had my wrists and elbows at max discomfort threshold in the FS with my piss-poor front rack (physically impossible for me to get into a proper FR). I can sustain higher weights in HPC because I don't have to keep the bar in position as long. Did a rep or 2 at 105# and it felt sustainable. Tried to strategize like James - did the first 2 rounds at 5+2/7, then switched to 6+1/7 with a slightly longer break between the 6 and 1. All-in-all, some improvement, so happy with it.

Cleans & front racking definitely bother my wrists a bit. I use wrist wraps which help a little, but honing technique is always a good idea before adding weight.

Nice job on this though!

round times: 1:08-1:59-1:50-1:59-2:01-1:59-2:14


all rounds 5 HPC then 2 HPC > 7 front squats except round 7 when I only got to 4 HPC and reset for the rest. Gamed this one a little but happy I was able to hold onto that pace most of the workout. Pretty big ass kicker and tip of the cap to anyone doing this RXd.


2024-5 rounds even, same scaled weight.

Globo wod: For this one pick a weight at around 65-75% of your one rep max for the clean. Dumbbells sub RXed 55/80lbs, intermediate 45/60lbs, scaled 25/35lbs dumbbells for the movements.
