Pantone recently announced the 2016 color of the year and you’ll be surprised that the council have decided to put Pantone 15-3919 Serenity and Pantone 13-1520 Rose Quartz as the dominating hues for 2016. Yup, these colors are what-sometimes- we use to determine baby genders. The so-called Baby Pink and Baby blue  Pastels will outburst their beauty in the coming year supposedly bringing in a sense of calmness and relaxation, this pastel pairing was a symbolic color selection that represents a balance between warmth and tranquility.

The color also taps into societal movements toward gender equality and fluidity. Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of Pantone Color Institute said their multilateral approach to color will coincide with societal movements toward gender equality and fluidity and that the consumers have increased comfort in using color as a form of expression and different approaches in color usage.

The announcement is an annual event that’s closely watched by designers and people from the creative and arts industry, so you can expect a cascade of products in these color from designers to retailers over the next 12 months.
