TOP 10 MOST POPULAR CITIES IN THE WORLD FOR 2016

You read it right, London has been replaced by another Asian city, taking over its reign for over two years, as it placed the city of Big Ben to a solid second spot, with 19.88 million projected visitors.

The Mastercard Global Destinations Cities Index also looks at destinations on the rise. For this year, they have ranked and  included fastest growing cities suggest that the Asia Pacific region, the Middle East, and Africa have become increasingly important to the global economic landscape. Osaka showed the strongest growth in international visitors over the last seven years, with Chengdu, Abu Dhabi, Colombo, and Tokyo rounding out the top five.

Thie annual report also reflects Bangkok as the most visited city for this year with a projected 21.47 million international overnight visitors. Imagine that!

“It isn’t a flash in the pan. Bangkok is in a strong position to be the top destination city for a long time,” Yuwa Hedrick-Wong, Mastercard chief economist, told Reuters. “There’s the value for money, especially for visitors coming from high-income countries.”he added.
