While your budget may not always stretch to a brand new vehicle, there are some strategies you can use to make sure that your second-hand or vintage car continues to look as good as new. Just keep reading to find out what they are.

Restore the dashboard

You may not consciously notice it, but the dashboard of your car is nearly always in your eye line. That is why you must attend to any issues with this first. Unfortunately, the sad news is that dashboards do tend to get a lot of wear and tear, often in the form of scratches, and can end up aging quite fast.

However, the good news is that it isn’t too tough to brighten them up a little either. To do this, you will need to first clean and then wax or polish your dashboard. It is the act of polishing that will help to fill in cracks and make your dash shine up as good as new. Of course, the products you choose will depend on what materials the dash is made from. After all, wooden and leather dashes will need a different type of product to plastic ones.

Take care of your steering wheel

Additionally attached to the dash is the steering wheel, and it would be a shame to ignore this once you have your dashboard looking good. Indeed, knicks in the covering on the wheel as well as aging due to light exposure are common.

Happily, it is possible to get some decent steering wheel covers now. You may even like to choose one that not only looks good but provides better grip, or even one that is heated for those chilly winter mornings!

Install tinted windows

Another option to improve the look of your second-hand or vintage car is to install tinted windows. Many people swear by these because they not only prevent glare in the cabin but make for a much more comfortable atmosphere when driving too. Oh, and of course, they do look super cool as well!

Now, you may wish to have a go at installing tinted windows in your old car yourself, if you like. However, it’s much better to get a specialist to do this job for you. Indeed, the reason why you need an expert for window tinting is that it can be a complicated, and time-consuming procedure.

In fact, it can be downright frustrating for someone that has no experience, so leaving it in the hands of the experts is always a smarter move.

Fix your lights

Headlights and taillights tend to dim over time, making a vehicle both look worn, and compromising its safety. That is why if you want your second hand or vintage car to look like new ( and avoid accidents so it stays that way) taking good care of your lights is crucial.

One way to do this is to get them replaced every few years. Although buffing them in the way that you can see in the video below can help and is a lot less expensive to boot!
