Late-night scrolling, bored, and tryna get some sleep. Just when you thought you are down to the last Instagram photo on your feed, you’ll end up searching for tags that’ll eventually lead you to a good and satisfying discovery of a new artist.
Ryan Monsod is an illustrator bred in the Philippines who sketches pop stars like Rihanna, Beyonce, Madonna, Katy Perry, and Ariana Grande. His works are so good that even Bad Gal Riri herself and Kim K reposted his work on their personal accounts.
Check out some of his works below.
The Manila-based freelance graphic designer took up Multimedia Arts in MAPUA-Intramuros, he shyly admitted to STYLEMNL that he’s a self-taught artist focusing on freehand sketching. He simply gets inspirations from artists in Fashion and Films, “I have tons of inspirations,” he quips. “From artists in fashion like David Downtown, I admire his style: minimalist yet striking.”
Some of his works include Preview Magazine’s Digital cover, a Jeremy Scott Illustration for Moschino that was included in The Know-Cultural Almanac published January of this year.
He ended the quick get-to-know interview by throwing in a good set of words for his followers, “Top of my mind, I think-one must draw subjects that they genuinely like and will strengthen their portfolio; Second would be, don’t discard weird ideas, that’s what most creative outputs are made of.”
