If you’ve been binge-watching several series on Netflix while stuck at home due to the Extended Enhanced Community Quarantine, you might have caught this very interesting Spanish series now running on its third season.
Admit it, aside from Money Heist, you’ve been also hooked up with the gripping teenage story of love, lust, and murder that you’ve seen on Elite.
Here’s a quick refresher, the teen drama was created by leading Spanish TV writers Carlos Montero and Darío Madrona. It follows the story of a teenage group who got involved in a whirlwind of clashes and mysterious murder that leads to vengeance and dark secrets.
Though others deem the series as a ripoff of Gossip girl, Riverdale fused with How to Get Away With Murder, Elite has a different flavor of its own that’ll leave you on your seats, gobsmacked and wanting for more.
Not to mention, the teen drama explores the road less traveled by other series about sexuality and preferences, racism and xenophobia, gender fluidity and toxic masculinity, inclusivity and fascism. On top of that during its first season, Elite was able to pull off a clear and informative lesson about HIV and STD, which some other series failed to do so.
Netflix has already released its third season last March 13, and if you are lagging, now’s the time for you to catch up as the series just got renewed for a fourth and fifth installment to premiere on Netflix.
In a report published, it was officially announced that the series would be coming back with season 4 and 5. The shooting of the upcoming seasons is in progress. Therefore, no release dates have been announced yet. However, the fans can now put their cast anticipation to rest as the producers have revealed the list of characters who will return on the series.
Read more below if you’re ready for more spoilers. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
WHO’S NOT RETURNING AND WHY?
Of course, Álvaro Rico (Leopoldo “Polo” Benavent Villada) wouldn’t be joining the cast for its fourth installment, due to his death on the last season, joining him is the murderess who accidentally stabbed him played by Danna Paola as Lucrecia “Lu” Montesinos Hendrich. After getting their scholarship abroad Lu’s flying to New York with her now Muslim BFF played by Mina el Hamanni as Nadia Shanaa.
Also, guess we won’t see Carla and Samuel’s ship sail for the next season, then as the classy and sultry blondie, Carla Rosón Caleruega(Ester Exposito) won’t reprise her character as well along with Valerio Montesinos Rojas ( Jorge López)who will take over the marquis winery of the Caleruega.
WHO’S STAYING AND RETURNING FOR THE NEXT SEASON?
However, here’s some good news, in season three, we saw that Omar chose to stay in Spain for his beau who’s now in remission. yup, so we might be able to still see some smooches (and more than that) from Omar and Ander who are played by Omar Ayuso and Arón Piper, respectively. The queen of con or the blondie barbie is also going back, not as a student but as a floor-cleaning-barbie-of-the-demise-Polo, Cayetana Grajera Pando played by Gerogin Amoros. Completing the cast are Itzan Escamilla (Samuel García Domínguez), Miguel Bernardeau (Guzmán Nunier Osuna) and Claudia Salas (Rebeka “Rebe” de Bormujo Ávalos) who returns to school after being expelled, which means we can expect a lot of twists and turns from this coming season.
WHEN IS THE RELEASE?
With the season 3 released a few weeks ago, the trailer of season 4 is not expected to drop anytime sooner. Though, we bet that season 4 will be released in Autumn this year or Spring next year with eight episodes again just like the previous seasons and the fifth season could follow soon after.
However, due to the Coronavirus outbreak halting production on many series, there is a chance that filming on Elite season 4 could be delayed severely. With that in mind, it’s unclear exactly when season 4 would be released.
The makers of the show have not revealed the plot of season 4 yet. However, with the new cast, we can expect the season to be more exciting and intriguing to watch.
