Korean Dramas has been part of our daily lives since 2003, which started with Bright Girl, Autumn in my Heart, and Lovers in Paris. Since then we have been accustomed to light-hearted, the no-frills yet creative storyline of Korean drama shows.
Now that we are still on quarantine and with the recent shutdown of ABS-CBN, more and more people are turning their backs and using video streaming applications like Netflix to be entertained. Good thing, these streaming services now carry Korean shows that people would love to watch.

10. Hotel del Luna (2019)8.9%
Rating: 8.9% | No. of Episodes: 16
Located in the middle of Seoul, Hotel del Luna is the eponymous hotel that caters only to lost souls. Managed by an ill-tempered CEO who is cursed to run the establishment for all of eternity as punishment for a sin she can’t remember. The only way to break it is to find herself someone who committed a crime far worse than hers.
9. 100 Days My Prince (2018) 9.0%
Rating: 9.0% | No. of Episodes: 16
The story follows a crowned prince who had amnesia and for 100 days lived as someone else. He ends up in the care of Hong Sim and her father. Thinking of himself as a commoner, he weds Hong Shim to save her from being punished by a law that he, himself, instituted as a prince.
The drama hit 10% on its tenth episode and maintained a double-digit viewership until the finale. Its highest rating stands at 14.4%.

8. Hospital Playlist (2020) 10.4%

The story follows the lives of a South Korean heiress and a North Korean military officer collide when the former lands into North Korean territory after a paragliding accident.

Reply 1988 revolves around the lives of a group of five friends in Ssangmun-dong, a small neighborhood in Seoul. Most of the series covered their struggles and memorable moments when they were 18 and 19 years old. It stars Park Bo-gum and Hyeri.
It hit the headlines during its broadcast for its record viewership that set a new benchmark for cable drama ratings, achieving a peak rating of 18.8%.

4. Sky Castle (2018) 12.5%

It started its broadcast with a poor viewership of 1.7% but this figure increased 14-fold to 23.8% during its finale. In terms of peak ratings, it is obviously the highest-rated Korean drama.

3. Goblin (2016) 12.9%

A fantasy romance about a modern-day goblin who seeks to end his cursed immortal life and needs a human bride to do so. The story got more interesting when his life then becomes intertwined with a grim reaper who is unable to remember his past. It stars Gong Yoo, Lee Dong Wook, and Kim Go Eun.

2. Mr. Sunshine (2018) 13.0%
Rating: 13.0% | No. of Episodes: 24
A poor boy born into a house servant’s family travels to the United States during the 1871 Shinmiyangyo incident. He soon grows up to become an American military officer who returns to his homeland and falls in love with an aristocrat’s daughter, all while unveiling a sinister plot by foreign nationals to colonize Korea. The drama achieved a peak rating of 18.1% and became the top Korean drama in 2018 (beating 70 others) as far as the relative viewership performance is concerned. It is Sky Castle‘s biggest rival in the 55th Baeksang Arts Awards.

1. The World of the Married (2020) 18.8%
Rating: 16.9% | No. of Episodes: 16
A revered medical doctor’s seemingly perfect life is overturned when she discovers her husband’s infidelity.
Currently, The World of the Married (A World of Married Couple) is the reigning TV drama in the whole of South Korea with an average of 28.371% Nationwide and 31.669% in Seoul besting other Korean Dramas like Sky Castle and Itaewon Class.
