There’s an Instagram-worthy restobar in Bali where good Mexican shindig, jives well with the Island’s chill vibe.
Nested amongst the coco palms and glassy swells of Seminyak lives a tropical oasis known as Motel Mexicola. Motel Mexicola is a quirky and color-filled Mexican bar and restaurant down Jalan Kayujati. It’s just a minute walk from La Lucciola and Petitenget temple, and a stone’s throw from Sense Hotel Seminyak.
Stepping inside this street-side cantina, you’ll encounter a table filled with bright orange and yellow marigolds against a blue painted wall. This peculiar sight referred to as the ‘Motel Mexicola shrine’ it also features Latin curios and retro-style photographs surrounded by thick candles with melting wax left to flow down the table’s sides.
Mexicola as locals would often call the place offers tasty morsels and modern takes on traditional Mexican fare accompanied by drinks list featuring tequilas, margaritas and Cuba Libres, that can be enjoyed al fresco.
In addition, Mexicola hosts regular house parties with live Latin music that will transport you ‘south of the border’.
The menu boasts off authentic tacos, tostadas, guacamole, aguachile, quesadillas and other legit antojitos. And we are pretty sure that it will give all the nachos and grey burritos you’ve ever eaten a run for their money.
Visitors from Sydney may be familiar with this partnership between The Bucket List and Rojo Rocket, who serve a range of tostadas, tacos, and ceviche created by Veracruzian Chef Alejandro Urbina.
This Instagram-worthy place gets crowded and rowdy at night so if you want a piece of this place in your IG account better visit it during lunch time.
Motel Mexicola is open from 11 am to 1 am daily, and is specifically located at Motel Mexicola, Jalan Kayujati no 9x Petitenget Beach, Seminyak, Bali, Indonesia, + 62 361 736688.
