With its gripping plot and story, the series has gained tremendous popularity racking millions of watch hours in the popular streaming platform Netflix since its premiere last September 17.
To date, Squid Game’s popularity has exploded not only in Asia but also in the United States, as of September 21, the drama ranked the No. 1 show in the ‘U.S Netflix’s top 10 in the U.S list today’ pushing “Sex Education” to the number two spot. It’s the first-ever Korean drama to achieve this record.
One of the casts who has successfully gained popularity is the 27-year old model turned Actress Jung Ho Yeon popularity has exploded after her starring role as Kang Sae-Byeok in the hit Netflix series.
Her performance on the show has earned her massive praise and as a result, she’s gained many new social media fans from all over the world. Jung Ho Yeon’s Instagram account has been gaining massive attention, she’s had about 400,000 followers before the drama aired, and as of this writing, Jung Ho Yeon’s Instagram followers count stands at 1.9 million, and still counting.
As a quick refresher, Squid Game is inspired by a Korean children’s game and revolves around a mysterious survival game and starring Lee Jung-Jae. In Squid Game, 456 participants sign up to play a game each day in hopes of winning the pot money of 45.6 million won or $38 million. The title is inspired by a children’s game, in which players draw different geometric shapes on the ground and play until there is one final winner.
Due to its massive success, many fans have been demanding to see a second season of the series.
