In one way or the other, you’ve probably spotted these aesthetically pleasing glasses on your Instagram feed and wondered how to get a hold of these pieces to grace your kitchen counters and of course, your own IG feed.
Made with the principle of using a double-layer structure to improve the heat preservation function of the glass, double-walled glass keeps drinks and beverages at the correct temperature by not allowing heat to escape or enter for a longer period of time as compared to regular glasses.
And since we are all for the #SupportLocal campaign during these trying times. We sat down with the owner and founder of the fastest-growing local producers of double-walled glasses Walled PH Florence Soriano to tell us more about her brand and her inspirations in creating such aesthetically pleasing and functional glasses.
Florence started her business in the midst of the pandemic, “My business partner and I halted our travel agency when the pandemic happened,” she started, “However, that didn’t push me off the line. I took the opportunity for self-growth and self-learning. I spent hours online learning about marketing strategies and so I thought I needed a platform to apply what I have learned.” she explains.
Equipped with the proper ammunition from her online studies and researches Florence started her brand Walled PH out of her curiosity and interest in the product, “The idea came up after I did my research on how it is made. At first, I thought the glass was only about the aesthetics but I came to realize that it is not just about its appeal but also its functionality and craftmanship behind every piece,” she shares. “I found well-known brands selling double-walled glasses around Php700 and above and it made me think of ways I can sell it at a cheaper price without compromising its function and quality. I wanted to build an affordable brand and something ideal for everyday use.” she continues.
Walled PH‘s glasswares were all hand-blown, so you can just imagine the intricacy it involves finishing a piece. “There are seven steps on how double-walled glasses are made. It is during the annealing or heat treatment process when they suck out the pressure of the glass to create a vacuum. This is the last step before they seal it at the bottom for the insulation of the glass. The insulation will keep the beverages at the right temperature for a longer time compared to other glasses.” Florence says gladly. And just like other glassware in the market, Walled PH is also made from borosilicate glass which is far more durable than traditional glass and can withstand accidents that would break other glassware.
With intricate processes involved, Florence shared that the most challenging part of starting her product line is the sourcing of the best suppliers in the market to make an outstanding collection, “It took me at least two tries to find the best manufacturer before I settled on the idea of selling these double-walled glasses,” she recalls.

The names of my glasses are actually from the drink that I imagine my customers use it with like Frappe and Latte,” she shares, “Except for our basic collection which I named after me for a more personal touch,” Florence added.
At price points of P150 to P580, anyone can have a piece or two of these double-walled glasses that come in different shapes, colors, and sizes. And this coming October it seems like online booze session would be so much fun as Walled PH will be releasing its very first alcohol mug collection come end of September.
