Correction, folks. Do not worry, they are not invalidating nor canceling.
The Philippine Embassy in Japan corrected the news released by NHK News that says Japan is canceling and invalidating its issued visas to 11 countries including the Philippines due to COVID-19.
In the article published last March 27, it says that about 750,000 visas issued by Japanese embassies in Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Brunei, Vietnam, Malaysia, Israel, Qatar, Bahrain, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo will no longer be valid starting Saturday.
However, The Philippine Embassy in Japan threw a silver lining for every Filipino in a statement that they released on their Facebook fan page yesterday, March 27, governing updated restrictions for travelers from the Philippines.
The embassy stipulated that Japan is only temporarily suspending the visas issued and not invalidating or canceling, possibly until the end of April but subject to review, in accordance with the new ruling released by the Government of Japan.
Further to previous notices issued by the Philippine Embassy informing Filipino travelers and Filipino workers/residents in Japan of restrictions for entry to Japan, please be advised that:
1. The Japanese Government is suspending the validity of single and multiple-entry visas issued by 27 March. The Philippines is included in this category.2. The Japanese Government is suspending the validity of the pre-clearance granted to APEC Business Travelcards.
3. There will be enhanced quarantine measures for incoming travelers from the Philippines. Specifically, those who enter Japanese territory from the Philippines will be asked to undergo a 14-day quarantine period at locations designated by quarantine officers at their ports of entry. They will additionally be asked to refrain from using public transportation before the quarantine period is exhausted.
