Yes! Wheels have finally turned and doors of opportunities have opened when IMG models decided to sign Miko under their wing. The news didn’t come as a surprise, though, we’ve seen plus-sized women models fronted several fashion editorials and even complete the list of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, and now is the best time to expand and diversify the male offering in the industry.
The six-foot-six tall model is the very first guy to be part of the Brawn Division of the agency after seeing the potential and success of its female counterpart, Curve.
The president of IMG Models, Ivan Bart, told WWD, “Brawn has a body positive message. Brawn is physical strength.” He said, he signed Zach Miko because “he was relatable but still represented fashion.”
“Everyone wants to wear great clothes and everyone wants to look fashionable. We have to start asking for more options,” he explained.
Before signing the deal, Miko was pursuing an acting and comedy career in New York City and has appeared in a Target ad campaign last year where he caught IMG president’s attention.
Hope with this move by IMG other agencies follow suit to give opportunities to others and to show that size really doesn’t matter and accepting who you really are is what’s important.
