9 THINGS YOU MUST TRY IF TRAVELING FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HONGKONG

Like Macau, Hong Kong is just an-hour-plane-ride-away from the Philippines. No wonder most Filipinos chooses Hong Kong to be one of their greatest escape if they want to check out world-class amusement parks, exciting bargain shopping and tasting the most authentic Chinese cuisine.

However, if it’s your first time visiting the country, you could be overwhelmed with tons of activities you can do in Hong Kong. So, here’s a quick guide on how you can make the most out of your first Hong Kong trip, all squeezed in a four-day adventure. Take it from us, this is our guide while we’re there.

DAY 1

1. Go up The Peak and see Hong Kong from afar

Take Instagram-worthy photos while on top of the Peak! 428 meters above sea level viewing deck where you can see the towering buildings of Hong Kong, its breathtaking view of the harbor and city skyline.

In order to go up the deck, you need to ride the Peak Tram, a 120-year-old funicular railway that can take you to and from the Peak Tower. The platform boasts an array of restaurants, Madame Tussauds Wax Museum is also here where 100 wax figures of local and international personalities can also be found.

2. Check out 100 wax figures in Madame Tussauds Wax Museum

While you’re atop the peak, go ahead and take a chance to see Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. Take a snap with Bruce Lee, Lady Gaga and Madonna while enjoying almost a hundred wax figures of local and international personalities.

DAY 2

3. Ride the Ngong Ping 360

For 25 minutes, ride a cable car on your way to Ngong Ping Village! This bi-cable ropeway system stretches 5.7 km, connecting Tung Chung and Ngong Ping.

Treat your eyes in a 360 degrees aerial view of rolling grasslands, deep azure seas, and lush mountainside  while traversing your way to the village. You can actually choose whether to ride an all-glass cable car called the crystal cabin or the standard one. In our case, we rode the regular one.

4. Check out the Big Buddha and the Ngong Ping Village

Be sure to have good leg warm up before you climb the top where the Big Buddha is located. An uphill climb  over hundreds of steps will welcome you on your way to the top. But all the hard work are worth it once you reach it.

DAY 3

5. Be one with Mickey at Hong Kong Disneyland

This is by far the grandest amusement park in Asia that’s just a quick hour ride away from the Philippines.

So whether you are traveling with kids or your besties, Disneyland is the first spot to fill your itinerary when you visit HK. Now, what to expect while inside the park, of course, the grandeur daytime parade with floats and dancers, themed musicals, meet-and-greets, the rides and the Fireworks display.

DAY 4

6. Explore Hong Kong Ocean Park

Ocean Park is located at the southern tip of Hong Kong Island where you’ll find this huge park filled with animal exhibits and sea creatures. This Park also has thrilling rides where you can let your heart out for joy Ocean Park actually has two sections: one is in the lowlands (waterfront) and the other is on the headlands (summit).

7. City skyline at night

Sit back and relax while watching the Hong Kong’s skyline play of lights. Imagine a moment with your friends while eating and watching the dazzling lights and shapes of the building illuminatingly entertaining all of its spectators.
