FENDI x VERSACE: HERE’S A FIRST LOOK AT THE ‘FENDACE’ COLLECTION

FENDI x VERSACE: HERE'S A FIRST LOOK AT THE 'FENDACE' COLLECTION

Nobody saw it coming, but all the rumors were shunned when Versace confirms its collaboration with another fashion giant, Fendi.

Kim Jones and Silvia Venturini Fendi of Fendi and Donatella Versace of Versace teamed up to design 50 looks which left fashion savants gasping for more.

Split into the “VERSACE BY FENDI” and “FENDI BY VERSACE” segments, the runway was described not as a “collaboration” but as a “swap,” where the creative directors switched their roles to design looks for one another. Fendace merged elements of both brands into an extensive, flashy mélange, which is part of a shared Pre-Fall 2022 collection that releases in May 2022.

In contrast, “FENDI BY VERSACE” was influenced by punk rock with materials like chain mail used alongside lace. Fendi’s F Monogram was reimagined with crystal-encrusted details throughout.

Called “The Swap”, the first half of the show, “VERSACE BY FENDI,” took inspiration from the mid-to-late ’90s while delving into the concept of duality by fusing Fendi’s Monogram pattern with Versace’s Greek key motif. Kristen McMenamy opens the show donning waist-long platinum hair,  in an all-black ensemble punctuated by gold safety pins that stitch the cutouts of her togs.  Closing the first half of the show is Kate Moss walking along with Amber Valletta. Shortly after, Kim Jones appeared to take a bow for his part in designing the first 25 looks.

FENDI x VERSACE- HERE'S A FIRST LOOK AT THE 'FENDACE' COLLECTION NAOMI CAMPBELL

Signaling the start of the show’s second half, the Medusa panels embedded in the foliage walls of the fashion space rotated to reveal the double-F logo designed by Karl Lagerfeld for Fendi. “FENDI BY VERSACE” was influenced by punk rock with materials like chain mail used alongside lace. Fendi’s F Monogram was reimagined with crystal-encrusted details throughout. A model clad in Fendi logo-heavy trench, over a midnight glittery top, matched with thigh-high boots and a bag appeared on the runway welcoming another set of 25 looks designed by Donatella. The show ended with supermodel Naomi Campbell walking the runway.

The show saw a star-studded group of front-row attendees including Gigi Hadid, Dua Lipa, and Evan Mock, among others.

Now, the question is, will Fendace be just ‘one of’ capsule collection or there might be a return round?
