Men’s grooming, especially the hair, ain’t easy, just like the ladies, men should take extra care of their hair not only to protect their scalp but to also keep a demeanor.
This New Year, perhaps, it is time for guys to correct your usual and conventional hair regimen that you’ve been doing for so long.
We now give you a rundown of the common mistakes that you guys usually do to your mane.
YOU NEED TO PAMPER YOUR SCALP
Taking care of your hair is as important as taking care of your scalp. Of course, you need to take care of your scalp! comparing it to the soil where a plant grows, taking care of the soil is important for the flower to flourish beautifully. right?
So, in order for you to protect your scalp, you have to use a formulation that will prevent product build-up- if you are using too much wax or pomade- and a formulation that will remove excess sebum and other impurities. Sebum and excess oil cause your scalp to have bumps, like pimples. You wouldn’t want that, yeah?
AVOID USING TOO MANY PRODUCTS
As much as you’d want to achieve that perfect quiff or the pompadour luxe to get that Mr. Clooney appeal, you have to bear in mind that you need to avoid using too much hair chemicals on your hair. Aside from building up a strong musk on top of your head, you’ll have a higher chance to attract more dirt to stick on your hair and that’s a complete turnoff.
DON’T COVER YOUR BALDNESS
Unfortunately, if the receding hairline is part of your genes, then you don’t have to be shocked why at the age of 30 you get to see a tarmac on your forehead. What better way to do is just to embrace and fix it with a fitting haircut that will somehow complement the receding hairline. Instead of covering them with a bunch of hair ala-Donald Trump. That is a NO, NO!
AVOID D-I-Ying
Whatever reason you have there, may it be being frugal or you just want to experiment, you are advised to not do the coloring all by yourself. There’s a proper way of applying the mixture and a pattern that need to be followed, you wouldn’t want to have a blot of black ink on your scalp right after you rinse the coloring, right? Or another way is to seek advice on how to properly apply the hair color and from there you can start.
NO TO 2 in 1 SHAMPOO
Your hair needs special treatment and using 2 in 1 formulation doesn’t save you from a pile of possible hair problems. Some formulation has a strong percentage of the other, they tend to be unbalanced so better to just use two dedicated formulations each specializing the shampoo agent and the other.
DON’T FOLLOW THE CROWD
Just because Instagram suggests that pompadour is the coolest hair of the season, doesn’t mean it’ll fit you. You better think twice, check all your features and just not give it a go. Remember, your mane must define your demeanor and you shouldn’t have a haircut just because the society or the social media dictates you to do so.
AVOID PULLING YOUR HAIR AND PRETENDING YOU HAVE ‘LONG-ENOUGH’ HAIR FOR A BUN
That will only aggravate your scalp and will increase the chance of hair fall, we tell you!
PAT DRY YOUR HAIR
Sure, you have short hair, but you are not to rub the towel against your hair and scalp. that will-again- give yourself more chances of falling hair and that would also cause dandruff, drying too much your scalp is bad!
AVOID PUTTING CAP ONTO WET HAIR
Let your hair breathe. Don’t cover it instantly!
AVOID USING TOO MUCH HOT or COLD WATER
Your hair will be damaged by too much of everything, it’ll make your hair dull and brittle. Perfect to use water that is of the right temperature, just like the salon.
Now, if you are not yet fully convinced with this list, you might want to reconsider, and do perhaps the first 3 bullets? We mean no wrong here, pal. Only the best for the coming year so, Good luck!
